“As a nation, we have forgotten the sacrifices of our national heroes,” said Mehtab Akbar Rashidi. To pay tribute to the national hero Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi as known as Suriya Badshah, the Arts council of Karachi screened a documentary based on his struggles of life.

“We failed to remember our philosopher and national heroes, we buried them under their graves, our kids are familiar with Guerrilla Warfare but they are unaware of the philosophy of Shaheed Surya Badshah and Sufi Shah Inayat. Shaheed Surya Badshah was the only ascetic who sacrificed his head; we need to hold our history.”

“Surya Badshah does not need any gold medals. His work, efforts, and sacrifices will always be remembered. We are living in peace today because of the sufferings of Surya Badshah. Today’s generation has no idea about that.” she added.

Addressing to the ceremony President Arts Council Mohammad Ahmed Shah said “Pakistan was not made by an individual, many movements were founded that aimed for the creation of Pakistan, it took many years and struggle of thousands of people to liberate Pakistan from the British. There is no precedent for the movement began by Surya Badshah”.

Remembering Surya Badshah he told “Martyr never dies. Today we are paying tribute to the services of Surya Badshah. Our writers, scholars, poets, and artists should appreciate the effort of our heroes. They should write about their lives and convey their messages to our new generation.”

Ahmad Shah added that he demands the highest honor award “Sitara-i-Imtiaz” from the state, for Suriya Badshah next year.

Speaking on the event, a politician of the Muslim League (F), Sardar Raheem said “After the 73 years of Independence the first documentary on Surya Badshah has made. He was a great leader of Tehreek-e-Pakistan. I request to include the lessons about Surya Badshah in our academic curriculum.

On the occasion, Prof. Altaf Aseen, Dr. Ayub Sheikh, and others expressed their views.

The documentary film “Surya Badshah” based on the ups and downs of Surya Badshah’s life and his struggle for freedom, was released at the ceremony. The event was attended by a large number of writers, intellectuals, and political figures.
