K-Electric, in a ceremony held here on January 14th, handed over the renovated Pir JeeAchan Family Park to members of the Liaquatabad community. The park will serve as a popular spot for around 7,500 households in the area.

The park renovation was part of K-Electric’s broader efforts to engage with the communities it serves beyond power provision. In past, the park was neglected and converted into dumping yard.

The power utility’s Integrated Business Center, located at Liaquatabad, Central District, is one of the power utility’s more challenging and densely populated areas of operation. Due to rampant power theft in the area via hook connections, the areas power infrastructure has become dilapidated. To counter the threat of power theft in the area, K-Electric partnered with key influencers within the surrounding communities and started placement of its Aerial Bundled Cables (ABC).

Notable attendees of the ribbon cutting ceremony were Additional Deputy Commissioner – Imtiaz Ali Abro, Municipal Commissioner – Sumaira Hussain, KE Director CSR & ESG – Zehra Mehdi Aneek and KE Regional Head – Abdul Khalique Shaikh. Key community residents also attended the ceremony and thanked K-Electric for its efforts to engage with the community beyond power provision. Ex-Chairman UC-42 – Tahir Siddiqui, specially thanked KE on their overall efforts and extended his full support for similar future endeavors.
