K-Electric delegation meets with SITE Superhighway Association

A K-Electric delegation headed by CEO Moonis Alvi along with members of the leadership team met with the S.I.T.E. Superhighway Association of Trade and Industries Karachi on Thursday as part of the power utility’s drive to further strengthen industry facilitation through closer coordination. During the meeting, current and upcoming challenges faced by industries and KE’s efforts to overcome these challenges were discussed, along with future strategy to address upcoming requirements of the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area.

KE’s initiatives to improve service levels for industries include 100% exemption from load-shed in addition to accelerated investments across power value chain to meet the city’s growing power needs. It was also agreed that to help with quick resolution of the association’s issues a Customer Support Centre would be made operational immediately, at space provided by the association. It was also agreed that the processing time and requirements for new connection or load extension would be made simpler and faster.

President of S.I.T.E. Superhighway Association of Industry Engr. Nisar Ahmed Khan spoke about KE’s efforts in facilitating industries through initiatives such as a simpler and faster process for acquiring new connections and appreciated K-Electric’s improved accessibility, hailing the formation of a dedicated CS centre with expedited Distribution operational support. KEs approach towards karachi industrial areas is was appreciated by President Engr Nisar Ahmed and assured KE complete professional support at all levels.

Moonis Alvi, CEO K-Electric apprised the SITE Superhighway Association leadership about KE’s commitment to facilitating the city’s industrial consumers through upcoming initiatives such as a 900 MW RLNG-based power plant at the power utility’s Bin Qasim power complex. Moonis also spoke about ongoing infrastructure upgrades such as the installation of Aerial Bundled Cable (ABC), which will enhance the reliability and safety of the network. He assured the SITE Superhighway Association of KE’s firm resolve in facilitating industrial consumers.

Amer Zia, Chief Distribution Chief Distribution Officer spoke about the USD 450 million TP-1000 project, which is on course for successful completion and will add more than 1,000 MVAs of safe and reliable transmission capacity to the network. He also assured the association members that K-Electric would expedite their requests for shifting of industrial consumers from residential feeders to dedicated feeders and the removal of kundas from the area.

It was mutually decided that a focal team representing the association would be formed to provide all possible assistance to KE to facilitate the speedy completion of all initiatives discussed at the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by SITE Superhighway Association, Masood Pervaiz Senior Vice President, Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz Vice President, Jamshed Ahmed Chandiwala, Member Executive Committee, Syed shagan shah Alam Member Executive Committee, Raja Ilyas among others.
