Italy to open Trade Agency in Karachi

Consul General of Italy Anna Ruffino while addressing to a gathering at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), has informed that Italy would open Trade Agency in Karachi soon. She Anna Ruffino said that security situation in Karachi has been improved remarkably and Italian investors are taking interest in energy, tourism, technical assistance etc.

On this occasion President of KATI Tariq Mali, Senior Vice President Salman Aslam, Vice President Junaid Naqi, Head of KATI’s standing committee on diplomatic affairs Masood Naqi, Former Presidents Gulzar Firoz, Johar Ali Qandhari, Farukh Mazher, Farhan-ur-Rehman and others also expressed their views.

Italian Consul General said that security in Karachi has improved remarkably and now many opportunities has been created here. She said that economic indicators of Pakistan is getting better, Italy also planning to open trade agency in Karachi soon. She told that for the promotion of tourism in Pakistan, a delegation of Italian tour operators would soon visit Islamabad and tour attractions of northern areas. She said that a business expo also would be held in Pakistan and a large number of delegates from Italy would participate in the expo. She said that this expo will strengthen B to B partnership.

President Tariq Malik welcomed the Italian envoy at KATI and briefed her about economic and production potential of Korangi Industrial Area. He also urged to promote bilateral trade between the both countries. Head of KATI’s standing committee on diplomatic affairs Masood Naqi said that in textile section Italian machinery becoming favorite and we are looking forward to uplift this relation to higher levels. SVP of KATI Salman Aslam urged for a free trade agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Italy to enhance trade relations. Former President Gulzar Feroz told that leather exports to Italy dropped 10 pc in previous year, effective measures are needed to recover the volume. On this occasion President of Italian Development Committee (IDC) Arij Iqbal said that several projects of water treatment, technical assistance and B to B cooperation could be put on the table. He said that Paksitan’s diplomatic mission in Italy could play affective role to explore Italian markets for Pakistani Industry and exports.
