Infobip, GSMA and the PTA conduct to build a customer data protection ecosystem in Pakistan

Global cloud communications platform Infobip, alongside the Pakistan leading regulator of communications services – the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the GSMA, the leading industry organization representing the interests of mobile network operators worldwide organized a workshop with the aim of establishing an ecosystem which protects Pakistan’s mobile subscribers from the unauthorized use of their personal data through Mobile Identity.

Working as a tech partner in the space, Infobip’s Mobile Identity solution, backed by leading mobile operators partner infrastructures around the globe, enables businesses to verify their customers silently and securely via their mobile phone numbers across every stage of the customer journey, from account activation and onboarding to payment and app download, without requiring the customer to enter a verification code.

The solutions available within Infobip’s Mobile Identity include Silent Mobile Verification, meaning customers can verify users in a smooth and unobtrusive way and SIM-Swap check, which captures real time insights to see if a mobile phone number has been swapped, protecting customers from this rising form of fraud.

“Our Mobile Identity solutions are built with brand reputation and customer experience in mind, helping businesses offer unrivalled, frictionless protection in the background. With the backing of PTA and the world’s leading communications authorities we’re very excited about the potential of widespread implementation of this technology, its impact on global service access and customer engagement, all enabled by seamless and secure verification that’s easy to do for the end-customer,” shared Asma Khan – Infobip Country Head, Pakistan

One of the key advantages of Infobip’s Mobile Identity solution is that enterprises and businesses can seamlessly confirm customers’ identity without requiring them to enter a verification code.

The two main topics for the workshop, which took place in Islamabad, at 2pm in PTA Auditorium, F-5/1 tackled the pressing issues in the mobile security space – the percentage of fraud happening on mobile devices and the necessity for elevated security that doesn’t negatively impact customer experience. During the workshop, GSMA and Infobip addressed the key requirements and functionalities of Mobile Identity with focus on use cases and improved security measures to safeguard customer data.
