Industry’s concern related to Labour Laws would be resolved soon, Nasir Hussain Shah assured

Provincial minister for Labor, Human Resources, Transportation & Mass Transit Nasir Hussain Shah has assured that all reservations of industrialists regarding labor laws would be addressed. While addressing to an Iftar Dinner arranged by Korangi Association of Trade &Industry (KATI), he said that we will try our best to facilitate business community. He also assured the amendments made last year in labor laws would be reviewed with the meaningful consultation of industrialists and employers.

On this occasion Petron in Chief of KATI and renowned businessmen SM Muneer said that CM Sind Murad Ali shah has earned his name as a “Doer”, we hope our concerns would be solved soon. He said that an affective committee should be form to review this issue, with authority. SM Muneer also said that name the tax which businessmen is not paying, but we are not even getting basic facilities such as water supply and sewerage in Korangi Industrial Area and other industrial zones as well. He mentioned that 8000 road and Sewerage system in KIA has totally ruined Sing Government should take notice of this sever issue. He also said that business community of Karachi wants to convey their concerns and grievances to CM Sindh but we are not getting an appointment.

Responding to this, Nasir Hussain Shah said that a meeting for business community would be arranged soon in CM house, CM himself is eager to listen the community. Shah said that development projects for industrial areas would be included in budgetary allocated scheme. He also told that Chairman PPP has categorically directed Sindh government to resolve every problem of Business community on priority basis.

Prior to this head of KATI’s standing committee on Labour, EOBI & SESSI Zahid Saeed briefed the minister about the anomalies of the amended laws in previous year. He said that more than dozen labour related laws have been amended last year but not a single suggestion was taken by business community. He said that without meaningful consultation with the employers how could be labour laws implemented effectively and productively. He said that many laws are contradictory. “change of definition of Employer, Profit share of employees, contractual issues, welfare fund , EOBI, SESSI and many other subjects should be addressed” he demanded. Zahid Saeed suggested forming a committee with representation of government official, Employers and workers to resolve the issue. Senior vice president of KATI Ghazanfar Ali Khan also demanded the formation of committee and stress to resolve all issue as soon as possible. On this occasion vice president of KATI Umer Rehan, Zubair Chhaya, Gulzar Firoz, Ehtisham Udddin, Shujaat Ali Baig, Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig, former chairmen and presidents of KATI, Members of executive committee and other senior members were also present. President KATI couldn’t attend the occasion due to illness of his mother, prayers for his mother’s early recovery and health were also offered in the end.
