FPCCI asks gov. to formulate policies for combined treatment plants

Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir acting President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry showed his serious concern over the visit of government officials at factories without prior information and was disappointed on launching of unjustified FIRs.

He also highlighted the ineffectiveness of Sindh Environmental Council under Sindh Environmental Protection Act 2014. Wherein, the representatives from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and industrial associations, representatives of the Chambers of Agriculture, the medical and legal professions, trade unions, non-governmental organizations concerned with the environment and sustainable development, and scientists, technical experts and educationists are included.

Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, acting President demanded that prior to the implementation of any regulations or measures relevant to the environment, awareness creating seminars and workshops on procedural methodology must be organized with the consultation of the active stakeholders. Presently, majority of the population is dealing old outdated environmental issues. They need capacity building, environmental knowledge and awareness on issues emerging out from the innovative and technological up-gradation.

He also informed that individual factory with limited resources many not be able to install individual separate treatment plant. Concerned authorities should help to formulate policies for combined treatment plants.
