FPCCI asked equal opportunities for Pakistani investors in CEPEC

President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Zubair F Tufail has urged the government to provide equal opportunities to Pakistani investors in CEPEC. He was talking to a gathering at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) on Wednesday. Zubair Tufail told that FPCCI is going to put its proposal for national budget 2017-18 till 28th of this month. He said that 2017-18 are very crucial years for Pakistan’s Economy. Situation is going to stabilized and according to International institution indicators of Pakistani economy are improvement rapidly, he said.

Prior to this, Petron in chief of KATI and United Business Group (UBG) SM Muneer welcomed newly elected President of FPCCI and appreciated his efforts of resolving issues of Business community. He said that UBG successively succeed in FPCCI election due to it great efforts. “We eradicated corruption from FPCCI and gives it voice in policy making Government institutions” he said. Muneer also urged FPCCI to raise voice against “audit raids” made by FBR to harass Industrialists. He demanded to stop this practice which also disturbing the day to day work of industry and trade while officials also took records in their custody on negligible issues. Muneer also asked FPCCI to play its role for payments of returns, which are now piled up more than PKR 300 bn, despite the issued refunds of PKR 50 bn in previous months.

On this occasion President of KATI appreciated the role played by Zubair Tufail for raising Industry’s Concern regarding Infrastructure in Karachi. He said just after taking the charge of office Mr. Tufail issued a statement regarding depleting condition of infrastructure in city and especially the sufferings of industrial areas of the city, provincial government acted on those clues immediately and issued funds of Rs. 2.9 bn, with projects for Industrial areas included. He also urged that FPCCI should play its role to clear up ambiguities of FBR rules and Data sharing between FBR and SBR.

Zubair Tufail said, in his concluding speech, that government is focused on energy sector. Shortage faced by Industry is now ended up, and now government establishing another LNG terminal on port Qasim, and third would be established during this month, he told. He said in a optimistic tone that Pakistanis should not even think to leave country because in coming days huge of opportunities are coming to the country and you will see a tremendous increase in foreign investments. He also said that government is about to bring tuff regulation for non filers, if anybody is not in the net, should bring himself in tax net, an amnesty scheme is yet to be announced soon. Meeting was well attended by a large number of office bearers of FPCCI, KATI and representatives of business community including Chairman of Port Qasim Authority Agha Jan Akhter, SVP of KATI Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Gulzar Firoz, Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig, Mirza Ishtiyaq Baig and other.
