Pakistan Bureau of Statistics is expected to announce the CPI numbers on August 01, 2022, for July’22 wherein we expect CPI to settle at 24.5%YoY/4.0%MoM. The massive rise in Housing, Water, Elec., Gas, Other Fuel Index likely to surge by 7.36%MoM similarly, the food index to increase by 4.33%MoM.

The government increased gas and power tariffs to mitigate the impact of higher fuel prices in the international markets and the devaluation of PKR against the USD. The food prices in the local market also surged due to hoarding by manipulators, short supply on delay in import LCs, higher transportation costs, and PKR depreciation.
