State Bank celebrates 70 years of professional excellence

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) celebrated its 70 years’ anniversary on Sunday July 1, 2018 with a number of programs taking place simultaneously at the Bank in Karachi. These activities were aimed sharing the 70 years’ history of SBP and bridging the information gap on various functions and achievements of SBP and its subsidiaries.

U.S. Embassy hosts Coding Camp for Girls

Pakistani Girls Code, the American Center’s first-ever summer coding camp for girls, ended with a ceremony at the National Library’s Lincoln Reading Lounge, an Embassy-sponsored Lincoln Corner. Deputy Public Affairs Officer Michelle Los Banos presented certificates to the 22 participants from Islamabad’s Federal Government Schools.

UK-funded Karandaaz financing 15 women-led businesses

The country’s leading promoter of financial inclusion, Karandaaz Pakistan has signed financing agreements with 15 successful female entrepreneurs who took part in the Women Entrepreneurship Challenge – 2017. The entrepreneurs will receive grants and investment worth an estimated PKR 64 million to expand their businesses.

Liquid Foreign Reserves of the Country as on June 22

The total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at US$16,243.9 million on 22June2018.The break-up of the foreign reserves position is as under: –

  1. Foreign reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan: US$ 9,662.5 million
  2. Net foreign reserves held by commercial banks : US$ 6,581.4 million
  3. Total liquid foreign reserves             : US$ 16,243.9 million

 

During the week ending 22June2018, SBP’s reserves decreased by US$602 million to US$9,663 million, due to external debt servicing and other official payments.

Telenor Group visits headquarters of Alibaba Group

Deputy Head of Mission Japan visited FPCCI
