7th Karachi Literature Festival starts

The seventh Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) will be held on 5, 6, and 7 February 2016 at the Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi. KLF brings together and celebrates Pakistani and international authors writing in diverse languages. The festival will feature talks, panel discussions, readings, book launches, English and Urdu mushaira, stand-up comedy, author signings, performing arts, art exhibition, film screenings, separate art strand, music, dance, book fair, literary awards, food court, and much more.

FPCCI says growth in exports should be correlated with the growth in industrial activities and investment in the country

 The growth in exports should be correlated with the growth in industrial activities and investment, as it is notable that handsome growth targets have been achieved in those countries where industrial production and investment have been parallel increased. This was stated by Abdul Rahim Janoo, Acting President FPCCI in a statement on new trade policy for the year 2015-16.

APCMA expresses reservations on various tax measures announced in federal budget 15-16

All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association has expressed reservations on various tax measures announced in federal budget 15~16 that would hurt investors’ sentiments in general and will particularly burden cement consumers in the country. Chairman APCMA Muhammad Ali Tabba has requested the Federal Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar to revisit some fiscal measures which would definitely result in increasing the cost of doing business in the country and are against norms of taxation.

K- Electric explains outage

K-Electric issued a detailed statement explaining the outage that occurred in Karachi on late Saturday. The outage in Karachi occurred due to a tripping on the Bin Qasim/Pipri 220 KV transmission line due to high humidity levels. The NDTC transmission line faced a similar issue last night as the current humidity levels are up to 99 per cent in the area of Pipri.
