Ambassador of Netherlands visits FPCCI

Mr. Zubair F. Tufail, President FPCCI and Mr Alamgir Firoz, Chairman Standing Committee on Diplomatic Affairs had a meeting with Ms Jeannette Seppen, Ambassador of Netherlands on 19th April 2017 at FPCCI Head Office Karachi. Mr. Zubair F. Tufail while welcoming the Ambassador, highlighted the economic gains of CPEC for Pakistan. The energy projects, setting up new industries and telecommunications projects shall be game changer for Pakistan in terms of new economic opportunities leading to higher income and employment. He further added that PTA with Netherlands can be very effective for both the countries.

 

Mr Alamgir Firoz, Chairman Standing Committee on Diplomatic Affairs said Pakistan there is need to have interaction with businessman from Netherlands to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation in common areas of interest. We need to activate Pakistan- Netherlands Joint Business Council which can help in better collaboration and partnership especially in sectors of energy, food and agriculture.

 

Ms. Jeannette Seppen, Ambassador of Netherlands said that many Dutch companies including Philips, Unilever, Shell, Suzuki are successfully operating in Karachi for a long period. Suzuki is going to open another plant of huge investment in Pakistan. The ports and shipping are handling big quantity of our cargo. She said we want to increase footprints in Karachi. Lot has been done and lot needs to be done. She said Pakistan held very important position in Dutch foreign policy adding that both the countries had strong social and economic bonds over the years. She said the Netherlands and Pakistan would extend their collaboration and partnership in many sectors mainly in energy, food and agriculture.


She further added that her whole emphasis is to work for the enhancement of Netherlands-. Pakistan trade and business relations with extra emphasis in promotion of Agro, food, Automobile and Energy related projects and businesses. She mentioned that Pakistan has good policies for foreign investors and if implementation of the policies is done in the right way Pakistan would benefit greatly. She informed that the Pakistani Ambassador in Netherlands is very active and keen to enhance trade ties. In the end she thanked all the business women present in the meeting.
