Dutch delegation visited KPT to explore avenues of mutual interest

A 20 members high level Dutch maritime delegation led by Her Excellency Ms Gerarda Adriana Cornelia Maria (Ardi) Stoios Braken, the Netherlands Ambassador in Pakistan, visited Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on 12th February, 2019 to explore opportunities and possible avenues of cooperation available in the maritime sector of Pakistan. The delegation was warmly received by Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar at KPT Head Office.

A detailed briefing on port infrastructure, organization, potential projects, geography and priorities was given to the delegation, highlighting projects in pipeline, especially with opportunities for foreign investments in the maritime sector of Pakistan. The delegation took keen interest in future projects including KPT Freight Corridor, environment friendly Multipurpose Bulk Terminal, LNG Complex, Maritime Business District, Special Economic Zone, Sewerage Treatment Plant, Capital Dredging, new procurements of KPT assets (Dredgers, Pilot Boats, Hopper Barges, Ferry Boats and Floating Cranes), rehabilitation of KPT Engineering Workshop.

The delegation was further briefed by Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar about the numerous opportunities available in the boat building sector of Pakistan which is also an important part of the overall maritime sector. The briefing concluded with the exchange of souvenirs on the occasion. Later, the delegation also visited the KPT Engineering Workshop Area.
